Scrubs: My Dumb Luck

NBC, Thursdays at 8:30PM (for now)

Genre: Sitcom

Conceit: Imagine if Grey’s Anatomy Was Funny…And Just Better.

There was a little old-school charm to this episode of Scrubs.  JD and Turk were tag teaming to one-up Dr. Cox on a patient he couldn’t diagnose.  Sounds like a basic premise, but since these guys became attendings, we haven’t gotten to see much of it.  It was pretty nice.

Everything else was less than stellar.  Kelso sitting on a bench reminiscing?  Not terribly interesting.  Eliot and Carla trying to get people to rally behind Kelso?  Not terribly interesting.  Jordan appearing.  Interesting.  Nothing about this episode was the least bit interesting.

The only saving grace had to be Kelso’s last scene.  Even as it was pretty goofy (ripping his portrait off the wall and running down the hall with it), for people who’ve been watching the show for seven seasons now, it was touching.  He was the show’s bad guy, but not really.  Even if the show does get picked up on ABC for one more season, odds are budget cuts will prevent him from coming back.

Hopefully the funny comes back though.

Final Grade: C-
